Fremont, Calif-based semiconductor manufacturing equipment supplier Lam Research Corp opened Tuesday its global product training center in Hsinchu, Taiwan that will offer training programs aimed at helping customers speed the ramp to production on new Lam Research process tools as well as improve the productivity of existing Lam Research systems.
Lam said the facility is located in close proximity to core centers of semiconductor technology development and manufacturing, and courses will be taught in both English and the local language.
To allow 200- and 300-mm hands-on training, the 3,600-plus square foot facility is equipped with 2300 and Alliance-based systems with additional equipment to be installed as dictated by customer demand.
“Localized training not only saves our customers the time and expense of travel, but also facilitates securing more comprehensive training. This is a significant benefit that is realized in faster resolution of process and equipment issues and fewer escalations for supplier support. When customers better understand their process equipment, they can achieve the high productivity for which our equipment is designed. This new training center will enhance support to customers in all regions, in particular, in the expanding Asia Pacific market,” added Daniel Liao, Lam Research’s group VP for Asia Pacific, in a statement.
