Based on its CS4525, a 30W digital audio amplifier with an integrated ADC, Cirrus Logic’s CRD4525-Q1 reference design simplifies the evaluation and design-in of the digital amplifier. The integrated unit does not require a heatsink and uses programmable power foldback based on input from thermal warning circuitry.

An included 80W, 18V switch-mode supply powers the two 15-W, full-bridge channels. For easy interfacing, standard RCA phono jacks are provided for analog input signals and optical and coaxial inputs are provided for S/PDIF digital audio input signals.

A Windows software GUI communicating through the PC’s USB port configures the control port registers to evaluate all the features of the CS4525. However, on-board hardware provides control over basic functions without connecting the CRD4525-Q1 to a PC.
