Display Eyewear Could the Answer to Small Screens

May 25 2006 12:57PM | Permalink |Comments (4) |

Eyewear or glasses with tiny displays that replicate a big HD TV experience promises to solve the small screen problem with handsets. Could this actually be the answer to the most vexing problem in consumer electronics? Kopin Corp., which makes the tiny dense display for eyeware, thinks so. I must admit. It's been a while since I was as taken with a technology concept. I have not tried eyewear yet, but The Sharper Image is selling a Kopin-based model from Icuiti. If it works as well as Kopin CEO John Fan claims, it could be a big winner. At $500, eyewear isn't cheap yet, but in volume, it could be.

The Ipod isn't cheap either and those sure have no problem selling. If this piece of technology is as cool as it sounds, I dont think they will have any problem moving them.

Now I can have the privacy and big screen display with DVD quality on the airplane.
I also like the idea of using with my notebook and doing my work in privacy.
I will be buying one initially and expect my kids to follow.
Great product, is this a new revolution?

At $550, they ain't cheap. But if you want mobile of any length (ergo, a movie), they could be a must.
