The Niagara 2266 GbE (gigabit-Ethernet) PCIe (peripheral-component-interconnect-express) network-interface card adds to the vendor’s copper-NIC family. The six-port card supports gigabit rates and throughput, suiting Internet-security appliances. The device also supports 2.5-Gbps traffic rates per PCIe lane, with each Ethernet port driving as much as 2 Gbps full duplex, providing a 12 Gbps total. The Niagara 2266 NIC costs $608 (100).
