Matt Miller and Melissa Annand have put together a page with all of Jim Williams’ articles we have published since 1994. Jim has told me he still has copies of all the stuff he did between 1980 and 1994. Add a comment if you want to see these digitized and put up as well, I may be able to do one a month or so.

Here is Jim at is office in 2008. He is surrounded by LCD panel backlight converters he helped design. Do you recognize the guys in the picture on the far left? Click on the image for a large high-res image.

There is also a quick-link to the article page that is easier to remember:

Awesome! I admire Jim Williams for his informative and fun way of explaining technical things. His dedication and enthusiasm shows with each sentence he writes. I really think the effort of scanning his older articles and making them available on your website would be well spent. I have to say that I have learnt a lot from reading his stuff. His avalanche pulse circuits (based on Tek 111) are really nice and were fun to build (they even work fairly well with standard 2N3904 instead of the proposed 2N2369). I have used his breadboarding style many times and found it to be of enormous help. And I''ve come to share his fascination on old measurement equipment. Like him, when I''m at an electronics flea market, I might spend more for the busted stuff. Please go ahead and scan the older articles, too!

Bill Hewlett is the guy in the middle of the picture on the far left, I don't recognize the others.

I agree with zb's comments about Jim's articles; yes, please do scan them when you are able. I'd love to read his earlier work. I also share zb's fascination with old measurement equipment; my house is slowly filling up with it! I will have to take a look at those avalanche pulse circuits.

I suppose the guys in the pictures apart of Bill Hewlett are from Disney Studios looking the first audio oscillator he sold them. Is there a similar site for Bob Pease articles?

Bob Pease's articles are in Electronic Design-- many are here: www.electronicdesign.com/Departments/Index.cfm?AD=1&DepartmentID=6 while there is more at National Semiconductor www.national.com/rap/

Those early articles of Jim's contain a welath of great technical information that are as relevant today as they were when they were written. I can't imagine a collection of EDN articles more deserving of being immortalized in the EDN archives than those of Jim's.
