Tongue-controlled devices for the handicapped

Knowing a mom with a severely handicapped son, I am all for using technology to help these folks become more productive. This article describes research that uses a magnet on the tongue to control wheelchairs and speech synthesizers and such. Here is the source website. It is a real advancement since the article points out that the nerves to the tongue go directly to the brain and will function even in patients that have neck injuries.
