Six new reference designs from National Semi

PR whiz and good ol’ boy Mark Alden sent me a press release that details six new reference designs that National has just posted on their website. The six designs are:

One of the nice things is that National gives you schematics, a BOM, board layout, firmware, and FPGA source code in Verilog or VHDL. Lately National has been on a low-power kick so these designs all stress that aspect of the design. You can see all their reference designs here.

In your latest on-line EDN blog, you featured (among many other great topics!) six "Reference Designs from National Semiconductor: PR whiz and good ol’ boy Mark Alden sent me a press release that details six new reference designs that National has just posted on their website. The six designs are: Solar-Powered Lead-Acid Battery Charger High-Efficiency Portable Music Player Dock CCFL to LED Conversion Power Supply Ambient Light Adaptive LED Driver High-Performance SerDes Module with Easy FPGA Interface and Cable Detect Load-Detecting Power Supply Please note that the link to one item I particularly wanted to see (Solar-Powered Lead-Acid Battery Charger) does not work. I get an error message no matter how many times I've tried it. Dang! I hate when that happens! I tried to find it in the "collection" of other National Semi "Reference Designs", but no luck there, either. Shucks! Any help? Karl K. McKinney, Texas

The link to "Solar-Powered Lead-Acid Battery Charger" appears to be broken

Sorry about the broken link guys. I got a call from Mark at National and he explained that a customer of their's that uses the circuit claims they have to take it down since HIS customers are freaked out it is public knowledge. This now involves the legal department and lawyer's prime directive is to complicate things so they make more money (just like software people, huh dad?) so don't expect the link to go back up anytime soon. Mark promises me that as soon as he gets the OK they will put it back up. I tried the wayback machine the the link does not come up there, perhaps it is too new. Sorry, both I and National truly regret teasing you with this circuit only to have to take it down for a while.
