Airbags are really dangerous. Really.

Save yourself 5 minutes of Canadian blather (&profanity) and advance to 3:50.

If they had watched the first video, these kids would know better. As wound these avid skateboard artists.

But nothing tops this guy playing Queen so loud it sets off the airbag and knocks him unconscious. Well he was whacking on the steering wheel as well. Then again, maybe the speaker currents coupled into the airbag wiring. That's funny, I don't care who you are...

I guess you can see why we American auto engineers were reluctant to design them in when a seatbelt does about 90% of the work. Airbags in the US are way more powerful since our dear government knows we are stupid morons that won't use seatbelts. Here is a slo-mo shot of an air bag deploying.

And here is the definitive airbag explanation (since it is done with an English accent).

My fellow GM co-op student buddy used to play "find the rear-view mirror" after every test. Then he really beaded in the windshield well, since it blew out every time-- So the rear window blew out of the car. So then he got creative and put a smoking pipe in the dummy's mouth. The airbag drove it out the back of his head. Nice-- sleep well, our government is protecting you with lots and lots of laws. Good ones. Smart ones. Important ones. There, don't you feel better now?

PS: What really depresses me is that the lucre-lovers at YouTube now pop up an ad inside the video-- ads on eBay, ads on ads, ads on airline trays, where will it end?

Hey, that airbag going knocking the driver unconscious is a GREAT feature! I wish every idiot that tried to play music THAT LOUD in their car got knocked unconscious by their airbag.

The Canadian video compares a Saturn Driver airbag with a Ford passenger airbag. Not a fair compaarison. The driver is protected by both the airbag and the collapsing steering column in a frontal crash. The passenger has only the airbag to absorb all the energy, and, by necessity, must be more agressive.
