Ok, here's my first blog post. I'll try to bring you the appealing items that I discover while working on embedded systems articles for EDN. I know you're busy so I'll keep them short and to the point. Please give me your feedback or suggestions as we go along.
Lately, I've been working on a hands-on feature describing the tools and programming necessary to create smartphone applications. I think that smarphones make an ideal portable user interface for many embedded projects. For example, I found an interesting application that allows obstetricians to use smartphones to remotely access real-time fetal heart tracings and maternal contraction patterns from labor and delivery units. This real-time display eliminates possible mistakes in interpretation by the nurse and allows the doctor to check on patients more often. The AirstripOB is just one case where a smartphone delivers a remote, portable, wireless user interface at a fraction of the cost of a custom design. I think the smartphone phenomenon will be huge in the embedded market.
What do you think?
