Following up on last Friday's post discussing freely downloadable high-definition Windows Media Video clips (more are available here, by the way), Apple has just unveiled its HD Gallery containing high-definition video footage encoded in H.264 (aka MPEG-4 Part 10, aka MPEG-4 AVC) and enclosed within its QuickTime 7 wrapper file format. Right now version 7 of the QuickTime Player is a Mac-only play; I haven't yet upgraded because a number of plug-ins (DivX, Telestream's Flip4Mac, etc) aren't yet QT7-compatible. Apple promises a Windows version of the QuickTime 7 Player 'soon'.
