Both Paul Rako and I reported our impressions of Kevin Gross's presentation on audio latency at this year's fall Audio Engineering Convention. Paul is Cirrus Logic's Ethernet-transported audio guru, and at last year's fall AES he presented the results of a survey taken to assess various audio applications' needs with respect to different implementation characteristics; latency, distance, cost, standards-compliance, etc. Kevin subsequently published an article in the December 2005 issue of Systems Contractor Magazine; the online version doesn't contain the print article's graphics but still offers useful information (at least in my opinion). A related article in that same issue, 'Directing Audio Traffic', may also be of interest to y'all.
