Any of you who are also at the show and are interested in upgrading your existing Bluetooth headset should head over to the Concierge Tent (across the driveway from the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall) and visit Aliph's booth. There, you can trade in your current hardware (which will be donated to charity or recycled, depending on its condition) and receive in exchange a free, already-charged Jawbone headset.
The offer's not just open to press types; I have an email from the company's PR rep that explicitly states, "This opportunity is open to anyone at the show who would like to trade in their old headset". Company reps will even help you pair your new Jawbone with your phone...a task that was complicated in my particular case this afternoon by the substantial spectrum corruption at the time and place. When I attempted to execute the pairing handshake, my phone 'saw' three Aliph headsets in 'discoverable' mode (along with a bunch of other within-range broadcasting Bluetooth equipment), and I didn't know which 'jawbone' to pick. Back at my less 2.4 GHz-saturated hotel room, I was ultimately successful.
If you're not also at the show, I've also got you covered, albeit not for free. Check out the $79.99 offer I saw this morning on Techbargains. My wife's used a Jawbone for several months now and really likes it; I'm also impressed with its inconspicuousness and ambient noise suppression performance based on brief initial inspection. I do feel a bit like a Borg with it on, I admit, but given that I spent the day at the Las Vegas Convention Center, next door to the Hilton wherein is found the Star Trek: The Experience tourist attraction, perhaps my appearance was at least somewhat appropriate.
The Sands Convention Center awaits. See you back at Brian's Brain tomorrow. G'night.
