EDA's next top blogger

Jul 2 2009 4:41PM | Permalink |Comments (3) |

Denali’s competition for “EDA’s Next Top Blogger” is now open here. Please go there and vote for me (you are only allowed to vote once). There are two reasons I’d like you to do this. First, I’d like to win. But secondly I’d be interested in how many people read EDAgraffiti. Reed, the parent of EDN, has a policy of not releasing any page-view data outside of the company, so I have no idea of the size of my readership, let alone anything about who you all are. Voting closes the evening before the Denali party July 27th.

Denali has a horrible CAPTCHA that makes voting at all a bit difficult.

Horrible is not the word for it. They are harvesting emails. If they want my email they can pay me the 35 dollars advertizers pay for the email of a working engineer. Sorry, you have my vote here, but I am never going to give up an email address.

Paul: thanks again for taking part in the EDA's Next Top Blogger contest. As you know, we have pulled this (and the other contests: EDA Idol, Community Superheroes) together as a fun way to highlight the many talented individuals in our industry ... At the same time, we thought it would be prudent to implement some security features. Among these are capthca (to prevent voting-bots), cookie tracking (to avoid multiple voting from individuals) and email logging (to detect fake votes).

AS: I agree. The CAPTCHA on the site is pretty heinous. We use a 3rd party polling client and this is one of its "features" ... :-(

Fed up: sorry to burst your bubble. The emails collected in this contest are solely for voting security purposes. We will not be using these email addresses in our marketing campaigns.

Thanks,
Dave
