Leibson's Law: It takes 10 years for any disruptive technology to become pervasive in the design community. This blog is about the disruptive technologies that either have or will win over electronic engineers, some that won't, and why. Written by Steve Leibson, Tensilica's Technology Evangelist. Have
you ever been tempted to strap a pair of wings and some tiny jet engines to your backside and fly across a pretty big body of water? Me either. But I’ve thought personal jet packs were cool ever since the Zeta Beam teleported archaeologist Adam Strange from Peru to the planet Rann back in the late 1950s. Swiss pilot Yves Rossy must have thought so too, because he’s developed the closest thing I’ve ever seen to Strange’s jet pack and it works. You can see video of him flying here. Rossy will attempt to cross the English Channel tomorrow (Friday). Bon voyage, Monsieur Rossy.
[UPDATE] He made it!
It took Rossy about 15 minutes to fly from France to England across the English Channel. Here's the video.
