More great engineering people make fun of

July 12, 2009

My college buddy Russ sent me a link to this site with really great engineering that people call redneck or hacker or stupid. I did a blog last year with my own personal collection of pictures I have saved over the years. People make fun of this stuff but I love it. Some of this stuff is not exactly stylish,. But what is good engineering if not function over form? I really love people that mount room AC units into their car and run it off an inverter or better yet, a motor-generator set. That has two distinct advantages. One, you can stay cool while you are parked with the engine off. Perfect for making out with a babe on those nights where the windows would fog up otherwise. And if you mounted a heat pump instead of a room air-conditioner you could have heat as well, prefect for those cars with a leaking heater core that you plugged in the summer. The second big advantage of mounting a room air conditioner in your car is that you can migrate the setup to your next car after the timing belt breaks on your current ride. Yes, let the clueless laugh, we engineers know real style Note all the keyword tag searches on the linked site, you can call up various other themes. Be sure to follow the link under the duct-taped fender on the moon rover to the NASA web page that shows how duct tape fixed the lunar rover.

And, remember, a preposition is something you shouldn't end a sentence with.
