June 18, 2008

Mozilla Firefox 3 just got released. Download it this morning even if you don’t install it, if only so they can set a new record for the most downloads in 24 hours.

Firefox 3 is way cool , and so is Mozilla Seamonkey, for those of you that want a full featured browser with POP3 email.

I've been running FireFox 3 for a day or so. Biggest improvement that affects me is its memory footprint. FireFox 2 regularly consumed RAM at a voracious rate (easily getting to 600+ Meg after a day of browsing). FireFox 3 is staying at a more 'reasonable' 100 Megs. I put 'reasonable' in quotes because my hair is gray and to me 8 Meg of memory is a heck of a lot. As my son says to me: "Dad, did they have the electric light when you were born?" -- Kevin
