On-line simulation tools

September 20, 2006

I read in a competitive publication that all on-line design tools simulate the design.  Having worked in National’s WEBENCH group I know this to be not quite true.  WEBENCH does a mathematical computation page and then lets you do a real SPICE simulation of the result.  The very nice TI FilterPro tool does the math and shows a plot but this is just the mathematically expected curve, it does not do a real SPICE simulation.I am pretty sure that Analog Devices does not do actual simulations either.  The famous Linear Tech LTSpice, done by panama-hat-wearing SPICE jock Mike Engelhardt is a real SPICE program, only you have to download and install it, it does not work on-line.

And a big shout out to Martin and Jeff and Phil Gibson and Marty and all the WEBENCH team.
