AuctionBDI; Silicon Valley sources
AuctionBDI is a great place to pick up used and surplus test equipment and other items. They have their own web page where you can put in a closed bid. The auctions go “live” Wednesday night and you have until Sunday night to bid on them. They will ship. Minimum bid is 25 bucks and there is a 25% commission on top of your bid that you will have to pay. You can do your bid online or at their site. You can inspect the items up until Friday about 4 PM. The owner, Ted Caliouette, is a long-time dealer in surplus electronic equipment. You can definitely get better deals here than you can on eBay.

A look at the warehouse at Auction BDI. Yes that is a Bridgeport mill. It sold for $777 (plus 25% commission). See why you should check these folks out? (Click to enlarge.)
A nice Keithley 706 scanner. Notice how Ted left the “bad” sticker on it. That tells you what kind of honest guy he is. And in this context bad means bad, not baaad. (Click to enlarge.)
This big airtight cabinet would make a great bead-blast cabinet. I would have bid but I have my own bead-blast cabinet project right now. (Click to enlarge.)
Check out all the cool stuff in the odd lot on a pallet, just for you. DVMs, antique test equipment, and a jig crane. The flow-meters and valves in that blue box are probably worth a few hundred bucks alone. I am sure it went for cheap. (Click to enlarge.)
Need any phones? Ted’s got ‘em. (Click to enlarge.)
Here is a Tektronix 7633 oscilloscope mainframe. (Click to enlarge.)
And if you want to have a fun electric vehicle project these two electric wheelchairs would be a great place to start. (Click to enlarge.)
