Vision Research million-frame per second camera

March 6, 2008

My eFlea buddy Dave Ruigh tipped me off to this company’s web site. Vision Research makes CMOS cameras that can take one million frames in a second. You get some pretty cool slow-motion images out of that. Check out the clips on their home page. I hope you realize the significance of the clip showing the horses galloping. This goes back to 1872 when there was a great debate on whether a galloping horse ever had all four hooves off the ground. Photographer Eadweard J. Muybridge was hired by Leland Stanford to settle the question.
[update– I forgot to say the camera cost $125k.]

And don’t forget, the first eFlea of the year is Saturday—bring your money and leave with volume-absorbers for your garage.
