EDN Innovation awards photos
Our just-promoted Editor at Large, Matt Miller, sent out a link to photos from the EDN Innovation awards here. In addition to those here are some from my camera:
Talk about hi-tech—Brian Dipert set up this router hooked to the cell phone system so all the laptops would work. I left my laptop at home so analog got no benefit—it still is pretty hard core and who needs to use the hotel Internet when Dipert is our own ISP? (Update)
Avnet was the big sponsor and this is the coolest ice sculpture you will see all day (pun intended).
Former EDN editor Joshua Israelsohn showing the magician there is nothing in his shoe.
Glen Brisebois walking up to get his award for best contributed article. He just wrote me:
”By the way, we measured the index of refraction of the award.Got 1.53 ±5%.(That means it's not diamond or cubic zirconia or water, but could be almost any other known transparent material.) I'd like to measure the Abbe number too. That would be more material-specific.
I took a shot at measuring the dielectric constant, but the sample is too thick to make that easy.”
God those Linear Tech guys are hard-core, you gotta love it. I am surprised they did not saw the award up so they could measure the dielectric constant.
