Check out Ron's DFM article

July 13, 2006

If you haven't already, take a look at Ron Wilson's "Is chip design different after 90 nm?" in the latest issue of EDN. Ron interviewed a few designers whom have already tackled 65nm design to find out what's really different and what new problems pop up at that node? The latest issue of EDN's sister pub Electronic Business also has an article on the need for, impact and economic issues of DFM. My August 17th cover story will compliment these pieces and asks TSMC, UMC and the Chartered/IBM/Samsung alliance what tools they are recommending for 65nm node?

There are already 20 or so DFM companies out there and no doubt a few more will pop up at DAC. Of course not all these companies will be necessary and I'm sure we'll soon see further consolidation in this area until 45nm issues become clearer and a few more EDA DFM firms pop up to address those issues.
