EDN, TSMC design ecosystem and EDAC to host official opening reception at DAC
EDN Worldwide, the TSMC design ecosystem and the EDA Consortium will announce sometime this week that we are teaming up to throw the official Sunday night Executive Reception at DAC this year.
In years past the event was co-sponsored by the EDA Consortium and Gartner Dataquest with presentations by Gartner’s now-defunct EDA analyst group.
This year, the DAC reception will kick off with drinks and food followed by an EDA Consortium update from Aart de Geus. Then instead of market number presentations as in years past, EDN’s Executive Editor, Ron Wilson, and Electronic News editor-in-chief, Ed Sperling will co-moderate head-to-head discussion between two industry panels — a customer panel and a vendor panels.
One panel will consist of executives from companies designing advanced chips, and the other of technical executives from companies in the TSMC ecosystem — providers of EDA design tools, libraries and IP, and design services.
Entitled “Design Challenges: A Real-time Reality Check”, the panels will focus on the different categories of new chip design challenges the design community will face over the next two years. The event is being on Sunday June 3, 2007, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The reception will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the panel discussion at 5:45 p.m. San Diego Marriott Hotel, Marina Ballroom, 333 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, Calif.
Registration for all is complimentary. You can register for the event at http://www.edac.org/invites/dac_reception_07.htm. Designers and design managers can fill out the questionnaire when they sign up. Ron and Ed will use these responses during the panel discussion. See you in sunny San Diego.
