ClearShape, Mentor and NuSym tools top Cooley's "Cheesy must see at DAC" list
John Cooley has posted his “Cheesy must see at DAC list”on Deepchip.com. Topping the list are (1) ClearShape’s InShape and OutPerform model based physical verification and DFM tools (InShape was an EDN 2007 Innovation award runner up); (2) Mentor’s 0-In CDC (clock domain crossing) tool, (3) Nusym’s DeNebulator (beta tool), (4)Sierra Design’s Olympus, (5) Gate Rocket’s RocketDrive, (6) Mentor’s Calibre nmDRC (which has been upgraded), (7) Cadence’s CPF-based low power tool flow, (8) Synopsys Design Compiler-Topo (the 7.2 release of DC), (9) FishTail’s Focus and Confirm (FishTail is asking users to bring designs to their booth and they’ll run their false/multi-cycle path tools on them), (10) Sequence’s CoolTime SSN.
Cooley’s list goes to 27 but he lists multiple companies in each category. In the last item, no. 27, Cooley also takes a light hearted jab at Cadence CEO Mike Fister.
“Yahoo CDNS reports that Mike makes $4 million a year in pay.Using the accounting standard of 40 hours work per week, that means that Mike Fister earns $1,923.07 per hour or $32.05 per minute or 53.4 cents per second. It's like every 3 minutes some customer taps Mike on the shoulder and gives him a hundred dollar bill.”
He then later notes that “In Mike Fister's 3 years, CDNS market cap went to $6.01B — up a whopping 65.7%!”
