Compilation Optimization

December 7, 2005

My mid-September cover story discussed how altering a compiler's flags may (or may not) affect the resulting code's memory footprint and execution speed. Extremetech has just published, in the latest edition of Loyd Case's weekly 'Notes From the Lab', some interesting feedback from a reader on the compiler settings likely employed with some popular games, and therefore why they run faster on AMD CPUs than on Intel counterparts. Check it out.
