It's (Almost) Always The Mechanics That Fail....

August 13, 2007

….isn’t it? After nearly three years’ worth of hard use, my Dell laptop’s keyboard has half-failed (only around 50% of the keys produce the expected result when pressed). Cleaning it seems to have made the problem worse! ;-) And of course, I have an article due today….

Courtesy of a quick dash to Radio Shack, I’m limping along with an external USB keyboard and mouse, and fortunately I bought the three-year extended warranty on this system. I’ll send it in for repairs….and will likely donate it to charity upon its return. I guess I’ll be migrating to the MacBook sooner versus later, and out of necessity versus desire….

There are a few nice things I''ve seen with the MacBook. My brother has one and dual-boots his machine. One feature that I like that I wish others would go with is a magnetic power connector. If it gets snagged, it falls off... no damage done. One issue my brother has is Bluetooth does not work properly when booted in Windows, preventing him from using a Bluetooth mouse and forced to use the touchpad.
