Wind Power: Them's The No-Brake Breaks

Thinking back to my December 15, 2006 Hot Technologies feature article on wind power, and its online addendums, I was greatly amused when a link to this video clip recently appeared in my RSS reader:

That, folks, is why turbines have high-wind brakes. Thanks to Boing Boing for the heads up!

Furling is a good term. I have a 1 kw wind generator that peaks at 28 mph, and will "furl" at speeds above 35. It has survived 71 mph wind with no damage.
