Spectrum Allocation: The Space Shuttle Case Study

In my recent White Spaces cover story, I used the analogy of air traffic control to explain the dynamic-allocation concept that the technology’s backers were hoping to harness in making more efficient use of spectrum. In light of that comparison, check out this video of a Space Shuttle launch captured by an Air Canada flight passenger:

I’m flabbergasted that NASA and the FAA allowed any commercial airplane traffic that close to the launchpad. With that said, the footage is amazing (and I love the ‘man..holy smokes..holy sh*t…that is so cool’ accompanying dialogue, too). Thanks to Gizmodo for the heads-up.
