Got Game? Interesting Lit and Other Bits
December 14, 2005
This blog post references my article 'Got game? Living-room consoles grapple for consumers eyeballs, wallets' in the December 16, 2005 issue of EDN.
It's going to take me some time to wade through my towering pile of research materials (print articles, RSS feeds, etc) and deliver a comprehensive list of links to you. Until then (keep an eye out for follow-on posts from me), consider the following suggestions as your appetizer:
- Both AnandTech and Ars Technica have published in-depth analyses of the CPUs in Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3.
- One of my past blog entries provides a foil set presented by Microsoft at August's IEEE Hot Chips conference
- IBM has publicly published several of the papers it presented at the recent In-Stat MicroDesign Resources Fall Processor Forum, on the Xbox 360's Xenon CPU, and another on the Cell processor inside the PS3. Ars Technica provides commentary.
- The games- and hardware-focused sections of Slashdot are a good source of breaking news and discussion
- Other good sources of breaking news are the console-focused PS3 Updates, Revolution Updates and 360 Updates portals.
- Gamer-tailored websites like 1UP, GameSpot, GameSpy, IGN and Kotaku are also good bets.
