High Sierra: A Hosting Request
I thought it’d be fun to share 128 Kbps MP3 versions of the recordings I made last weekend at the High Sierra Music Festival with y’all, but to do so I need some available server space and bandwidth to host them. No copyright issues to be concerned with; all five performers (ALO, Del McCoury, the Disco Biscuits, Les Claypool, and the Yonder Mountain String Band) are fine with audience ‘taping’. I’m not going to even bother asking my employer’s IT department for server allocation, as I already know what the answer will be
And I’m not enthralled with the idea of devoting my personal .Mac account to serve the files, because I already use it to host several websites and don’t want your enthusiastic downloading to exceed my account’s respective 1 GByte and 10 GByte/month space and bandwidth allowances.
I’ve emailed the folks at Streamload to see if they’d be willing to temporarily bump up the bandwidth (normally 1 GByte/month) on my free MediaMax account, which I set up last summer as part of an AMD LIVE! promotion, but I haven’t heard back from them yet (and anyway, the files I upload to my account don’t seem to be visible/available afterwards, for some unknown reason). So here’s my question: do any of you have ~450 MBytes’ worth of available server space, connected to an adequate-bandwidth WAN tether, that you’d be willing to donate for a month or so? Email me if you’re willing to partner on this project; thanks in advance!
