YouTube Conversions: A Straightforward Solution
June 5, 2007
Wanted to give a quick shout-out about a free (ad-supported site, and donations also accepted via PayPal) online Flash video conversion service called Vixy that I saw referenced in a PC Magazine writeup. It lets you save the online streamed video (from YouTube and other similar sites) in a variety of formats, targeting PCs, Macs, Sony PSPs, video iPods, mobile phones, etc….you can even archive an audio-only MP3 file. And the transcoding 'engine' is open-sourced (with, in my mind, unclear patent infringement potential, but…). BTW, I've no connection with Vixy aside from being a contented occasional user.
