Plummeting Prices = Contented Consumers

April 25, 2006

The pending announcement of perpendicular recording-based HDDs is already having a pricing effect, it seems, on today's longitudinal-based products. Thanks to DealNews and Techbargains for the heads-up that TigerDirect is now selling Maxtor 300GB 7200 RPM HDDs, with 3-year warranties, 16 MByte buffers and NCQ-enhanced SATA-150 interfaces, for $79.99 after rebate (expires April 30). The magnetic storage equivalent to Moore's Law is alive and well!
