Windows Home Server: Interested In Microsoft's Beta Test Request?
Back at CES, I told you about Microsoft's upcoming Windows Home Server O/S for enhanced-function NASs. Microsoft just released Beta 2, after a lengthy Beta 1 internal testing cycle (Matt Pietrek has been running it for a while, and you might find his experiences interesting), and the company's opening up the testing loop to a short list of public participants. If you'd like to be considered, fill out the survey here.
For more information on Windows Home Server, I have three blogs for you to check out:
- The Windows Home Server team
- Charlie Kindel (Microsoft's General Manager of Windows Home Server), and
- Windows Server Solutions
Also check out the Windows Home Server Forum.
As followup to my CES coverage, I'm happy to report that Microsoft plans to not only offer Windows Home Server already bundled with partners' (such as HP's) hardware, but also sold standalone for consumers to install on generic PC platforms (or, if you prefer, frankenmachines).
