CES 2010: This Is The Way Airports Should Be Nowadays
Greetings from San Jose, CA Airport and the kickoff of my 2010 Consumer Electronics Show coverage. This is the first of, as in past years, a planned lengthy series of posts both from the show and post-show. After spending yesterday in meetings with my co-workers here in Silicon Valley, I’m headed to Las Vegas in a few minutes. And in striving to squeeze in some work (and laptop battery recharging) prior to departure, I was happily surprised to come across the following scene in-between gates 17 and 18:
Leather seats. Power plugs and USB power ports. Gratis, fast Wi-Fi courtesy of Google. A complimentary cappuccino machine would be a capper, but I realize I’m over-reaching with that one! I think I could stay here all day…and any of you who’ve grappled with inconsistent-to-nonexistent Internet service, scant-to-nonexistent outlet access, hard floors or other shortcomings during past airport sojourns are undoubtedly resonating with the pleasure I’m currently feeling.
p.s…check out what popped up on-screen once I signed into Google’s free Wi-Fi service:
I’ll have more on the Google Phone coming soon…
