Apple's 2nd Generation iPod Touch: A Teardown Heads-Up

September 30, 2008

Although most of my website-only editorial content for EDN appears as posts here on the Brian’s Brain blog, some of the more in-depth writeups are more accurately described as online articles and therefore locate elsewhere on the site. So it is that my latest product teardown and analysis project, on Apple’s recently introduced 2nd-generation iPod touch, can be found by following this link.

As always, I welcome your feedback. Note that this time around, I’ve had to make more guesses than usual as to chip functions and suppliers, since Apple hides the ICs’ identities by using company-proprietary package topside marks (increasingly so with every product iteration I subject to Prying Eyes inspection, it seems). So if you think my deductions are off base, and especially if you have hard data to support your contrarian perspective, sound off in the comments section either here or there.
