HD DVD: Killer Deals For Thee
The HD DVD format is in its death throes (therefore killer deals…get it?…ahem…), as you may have already heard. That means plummeting prices on players and content alike, as retailers purge their inventory. And that means compelling bargains, regardless of whether or not you already own a HD DVD player. Remember that HD DVD players also make excellent upscaling red laser DVD players. And there’s nothing wrong with HD DVD pressings of films (like 2001: A Space Odyssey) that you might want to make a permanent part of your movie library…in fact, many of them are feature-rich compared to their Blu-ray counterparts.
The RSS feeds from Dealnews and Techbargains are, I’ve found, an excellent way to keep on top of sales announcements as they arise. Thanks to Techbargains, in fact, I’ve just snagged a copy of the Planet Earth HD DVD set (which I’ve raved about before) for $24.95 plus tax, with free shipping. The narration on this U.S. repackage of the BBC original is unfortunately not done by David Attenborough, but if Sigourney Weaver’s dialogue and intonation get too annoying, I can always mute the sound and just focus my attention on the incredible visuals ![]()
The links to the Discovery Channel website within the Techbargains post didn’t work for me, although the ‘EML2008′ coupon for Planet Earth did. Try these:
Enjoy!
Followup: Wow, after posting this, I realized I really like to use the word ‘thee’, don’t I? ![]()
