Paul, Since my current email address for you is as VP Product Ops, Compass Design Automation, I figured it's out of date. So I'm sending this message via EDA graffiti. Page 11 of your book, "EDA Graffiti", shows the original Moore plot but your text says that the "number of transistors ...seemed to double every 2 years..." Since the vertical axis is Log (base 2) and the horizontal axis is linear, then the plot actually shows a doubling every one year. Don't feel badly; Gordon himself changed it to doubling "every 2 years" in Dec. 1975 and then to "every 18 months" in May of 1997. Too bad Gordon didn't just plot the learning curve----he would never have had to revise the time periods.
