Silicon Image Steelvine Sil5723, Sil5724, Sil5744, and Sil5733: Storage processors feature eSATA Gen2m and USB 2.0 host interfaces

Requiring no software, drivers, or special user knowledge, the second generation Steelvine storage processors feature drive cascading for hot-plug-capacity expansion. The SiL5723 suits consumer-electronics devices, DVRs (digital-video recorder), and PC motherboards, featuring a 3-Gbps SATA host interface and two Gen2m eSATA-capable device ports. The Sil5734 combines eSATA and USB 2.0 host interfaces, suitng single-drive external enclosures and external backup drives. The device includes two eSATA ports, an eSATA host port, and a USB 2.0 host port. Aiming at digital-home and small-office storage appliances, the Sil5744 features RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks) 0, RAID 1; Safe33 and Safe50 multi-RAID modes; drive locking; and single-button backup. The device also connects a USB 2.0 or an eSATA host port to two eSATA device ports. Thhe Sil5733 has a 3-Gbps SATA host interface and two eSATA-capable device ports. Content security using automatic drive locking allows the device to automatically lock the drive to the host. The second generation Steelvine storage processors cost $5.
