Comprising the DSS8101 PHY (physical)/MAC (media-access-control)-layer chip and the DSS7800 AFE (analog front end) chip, the Montgo powerline-communications chip set provides a 100-Mbps maximum data rate. The chip set offers full interoperability with the vendor’s UPA-DHS (Universal Powerline Association/Digital Home Systems Standard)-compliant 200-Mbps products and future 400-Mbps powerline products. The Montgo powerline-communications chip set costs $5.55.
