Allegro Microsystems A6260: Constant-current LED driver targets automotive lighting

December 21, 2007

Operating over typical automotive battery and temperature ranges, the automotive-grade, high-brightness A6260 constant-current LED-driver IC provides a 6 to 40V input-voltage range. Users can adjust linear constant-current output to deliver 350 mA in a typical application. The LED driver suits automotive-interior lighting, such as map lights and dome lights, and exterior lighting, including rear indicator lights, brake lights, and rear combination lighting. A temperature-monitor chip causes the output current to reduce in a fold-back fashion, and the fold-back is adjustable by choosing an appropriate resistor. Available in an SOIC-8 package, the A6260 LED driver costs 85 cents (1000).
