Inflection Points : timeline (networking)

February 1, 2010

George Zimmerman, CTO of SolarFlare, has graciously shared some of his thoughts and observations about the past, present, and future inflection points, especially with regards to the telecommunications and networking markets. The following excerpt from his post illustrates how inflection points can sneak up on us

… I distinctly recall giving a talk to a communications systems group at a major research institute and answering a question from the audience that can roughly be translated as “didn’t Shannon say that was impossible?”. Later it was, “won’t that take too much power?”

It is my hope that as you read these stories, you might want to reflect on and share your own observations in context of the markets that consume your everyday attention. As always, I will host these guest posts at How We See Embedded Processing to distinguish them from my own posts and better emphasize the different authorship of each post. I encourage you to contact me if you would like to share your insights and experience in a similar fashion.  The more people that can contribute to this, the more likely we can put together enough material to try to match up an industry timeline and see if there were common threads that crossed market differences.
