Aonix contributes UML modeling tool to open source

July 2, 2007

OpenAmeosAonix recently announced that it is contributing its Ameos Unified Modelling Language (UML) technology to the open source community. Ameos is based on the Software through Pictures modeling tool family and offers UML profiles to generate C/C++, Ada, and Java code. According to their website, Ameos implements UML 2.0 profiles, model-driven architecture (MDA) -based model transformation, and a user interface to meet the modeling needs of complex software systems. Through its UML profiles, developers can easily extend standard UML notation and adapt it to project-specific needs. Under the terms of the Ameos open source agreement, a “clean” open source version of Ameos, called OpenAmeos, has been created to ensure that anyone installing a new version of OpenAmeos will be able to use it freely. The executable version of OpenAmeos for Windows 2000/XP is downloadable here. Source code will be available on request shortly.
