Motherboards support old, new plug-ins

Targeting updates to legacy applications, CyberResearch recently introduced a new line of motherboards that provide one PCI Express x16 slot, four PCI slots, one ISA slot plus one more slot that supports either PCI or ISA expansion boards. The new MXGE motherboards come with a Core 2 Duo or Pentium 4 CPU and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. In addition to the legacy and current interface slots, the motherboard includes plus six serial ports, four USB ports, and two gigabit Ethernet ports. The MXGE motherboard provides middle to high-range computing power with your choice of a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 CPU with 800 MHz front-side bus or a 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU with 1066 MHz front-side bus. Both models come with 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, and support up to 3GB. The boards come with the Windows XP operating system which can be upgraded to one of the 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Vista operating systems. The MXGE motherboards are currently shipping from stock with pricing starting at $995.

Price is ridiculous and Windows XP DOES NOT support many ISA devices (no drivers).I agree with martin that we have to slow down with that e-pci.There is NO reason to get rid of parallel port ,serial ports and other useful stuff.I have a "King " of(older) boards - Albatron PE865 pro II and I do not plan to replaced.I have NEVER had a blue screen and all my devices work just fine.My son has the newest from the new from Foxcon and I don't really see that screeming action on it versus my computer.A LOT of exaggeration and hype around that dual core and quad core.My hyperthreading Extreme 3.0G Pentium 4 with 2X 1M cache is just doing great.I bet that all processor menufacturers are getting lost in all models of processors.Change is good, but not when it is not needed.

i am computer tec and it is nice to see the new and old to be come one . i still have old Isa parts that re still good and the same as pci. we need slow down in inventing new parts and use up our old stock first but we need to keep looking new away too. yes new better but when people need modem some new board have no slot for it if you have a reliable isa modem. but i think the price will kill this when come to new board like buy on for 30 dollars. we all now price will sell.

What is especially wonderful feature of this mobo is the last number - $995. Such a nice gift for those falling in love with serial ports and ISA.
