TeamCast partner, Dolby core

September 11, 2009

We mentioned last week Altera’s advance play for video processing at the International Broadcasting Conference in Amsterdam. Xilinx ended up having two separate cards up its sleeve – new system designs utilizing Virtex and Spartan FPGAs from long-time French digital TV OEM partner TeamCast, and a new Dolby 5.1 professional encoder implemented in Virtex-5, Virtex-6, and Spartan-6.

Xilinx’s partner for implementing Dolby code was Coreworks SA. The certified IP will be offered by Xilinx beginning in October.

While Xilinx and TeamCast did not specify which architectures were in which products, TeamCast’s new platforms for IBC included the Dmod4-T2, a system the company calls the world’s first professional DVB-2 receiver. Xilinx cited its high-level DSP blocks, including Fast Fourier Transform and FIR filter blocks, as critical to the TeamCast relationship, which has been in existence since 2003.

Will all this technology be used for stuff like letting Howard Stern run his mouth to a couple hundred thousand perpetual adolescents? Will it help Barak Hussein Himmler Obama brainwash the what's-in-it-for-me crowd? Since the democrats implemented their totalitarian dictatorship of the ignorant and evil, all this technology stuff just doesn't bring any joy.
