High-End Audio and Logic-Level Translation: The Surprising Connection

July 18, 2007

Cruising through the blog of audio guru Jim Hagerman, I noted his short essay on digital logic-level translation. Seems Jim thought up a novel way to build a 2-transistor circuit for translating between subsystems operating at different supply levels. He published the circuit in EDN’s design ideas a while ago. Now it seems that TI rolled out a large product line of level translators (up to 32 bits wide). It sure seems like these chips might come in handy, for those of you still designing board-level systems.

For more information on interfacing chips, see Paul Rako’s article.
