DSP Guru’s Take on Multicore

December 19, 2007

I spend a lot of time talking and writing about multiple-processor SOC design. The big PC processor vendors, Intel and AMD, have strong SMP (symmetric multiple processor) architectures, which tends to muddy the water in the embedded space. Rather than me speaking about the issue, I turn you over to Jeff Bier, the industry’s Grand DSP Poobah. Here’s what he has to say about multiple-processor chip design for embedded systems. (By the way, you might want to sign up for his email newsletter. It’s very well written.)
