Multithreading: The Video—Ed Lee Speaks at Microsoft on “Making Concurrency Mainstream”

April 24, 2008

The recent Leibson’s Law blog entries on concurrency and multithreading are getting so much comment that I wanted to make sure that those interested don’t miss Ed Lee’s Microsoft lecture on “Making Concurrency Mainstream.” Whether you agree with Lee’s positions on concurrency, mutithreading, and parallel languages or not, you should understand those positions. This video is a fast way to get the tour of Professor Lee’s head.

Dave, I am generally unhappy with Internet video in general. I cannot get CNN video to work on either IE or Firefox any more. It just stopped working one day, and I have no clue as to why. Plugins, like everything Internet, have run amok.

In the New York Times today, "Race Is On to Advance Software for Chips" (nytimes.com/2008/04/30/technology/30lab.html) Also, I am not an MS basher, but I have to say that I was disappointed the video link in the article would not load properly in Firefox.

So, Microsoft has finally discovered multi-threaded programming? I guess that explains the lame modal interfaces in all MS Apps for all these years..........
