CES roundup, Tuesday
The beat goes on at CES this week and our team in Vegas is keeping pace, covering the massive show from every angle. You’ll find all of their continuing CES coverage here and be sure to check out EE Buzz, featuring crowd-sourced news, commentary, and trending discussions on CES. Meanwhile, below are a few stories that particularly relate to the design engineer, the most telling in my opinion being the Microsoft keynote coverage by EDN’s Patrick Mannion. As you may have heard, Ballmer’s keynote was the last in a long line of Microsoft-presented keynotes at CES with the company stating they have no plans to take the stage again soon.
Regarding the keynote and this photo, Patrick wrote: CES auditorium after CEO Steve Ballmer gave Microsoft’s last CES keynote, symbolizing the end of an era for CES, the WinTel duopoly, Intel and Microsoft itself as it moves headlong into a new phase of toe-to-toe competition for the hearts and minds of the consumer.
Ballmer’s keynote, not only to be remembered for it being Microsoft’s last, looked at current design and next generation design, offering trends on consumer interactivity, usage, control. A link to Patrick’s story, as well as additional design-focused CES stories, can be found below.

Like WOW! Who else could have ever come up with that prediction?
