Akimbo lowers Internet-fed PVR price to $100
June 21, 2005
I’ve posted several times before about the PVR from Akimbo that offers a TiVO like experience except for the fact that content is transmitted via the Internet ( see “Star search: Judging the contestants at Demo 2004” and “Food TV and other Lifestyle channels come to Akimbo”). Lately, a number of articles in the mainstream press have questioned the company’s future, because arguably the service still doesn’t have critical mass in terms of content. But Akimbo isn’t going down without a fight. The company just lowered the price to $100 – at least temporarily. That was enough to get an order from me, and I’ll let you know what I think of the product in a few weeks.
