Wood's not the most trendy renewable energy – just the most popular

From a sidebar in the most recent Atlantic Monthly: "…Wood still provides more of America's energy than more recently adopted renewable fuels such as ethanol, wind, and solar power." Kind of puts today's renewable energy sources into perspective.
