APEC is this week: What’s new and innovative in the power IC and supply world

February 22, 2010

APEC is this week in Palm Springs. Some of my favorite topics will be: Everything that’s new in the PMBus world (2010 seems to be the break-out year), any new announcements about GaN, the Power Supply on Chip (PwrSOC) session on Thursday morning, the LED lighting tracks (one of which is opposite the PwrSoc Roadmap presentation on Wednesday afternoon, rats) and… on and on.  It looks like an outstanding conference this year.

If you’re planning on being there this Wednesday night, consider attending the Rap sessions. I’ll be participating in the one on Social Media: Tech Tool or Tinker Toy? Here’s the write-up for the session:

“Tweets, blogs, video clips and podcasts are certainly less expensive than print and online advertising, but are they effective at getting the word out about new products? Are design engineers really using these media in their work or simply going to the web for product information and application support? How are engineers in different parts of the world using social media?”

Hope to see you there.

You clearly need to skip the PwrSoc Roadmap in favor of the LED lighting track, Margery - the roadmap's all marketing hype/posturing anyway and you can get the roadmap from them just by picking up the phone. I vote you go to the LED talk and brief us all on it and am amassing my pitch-forked design-peasant friends here to revolt and post their thoughts on this one. What'll it be, boys and girls? Does our favorite power blogger have her priorities aligned with our interests? Too low of an SNR in social media for any sensible engineer, BTW. An easy answer.
